How to make donations at Holy Wisdom
We try to be a generous parish. Although giving levels vary in the congregation, all of us are asked to give in a way that reflects our commitment to living a generous life. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you might live life more generously.
REGULAR GIVING
Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG): The most cost-effective way to support the parish through pre-authorized donations is to use the PAG plan which debits your bank account on the 20th of each month. The parish pays a $0.50 service charge/month for your donation.
To sign up for PAG:
- Get a copy of the PAG form from the church by emailing churchoftheholywisdom@toronto.anglican.ca
- Get a copy of a void cheque for your bank account – a digital version can be printed from your online banking platform.
- Send these two items by email to our Envelope Secretary at yvonne.murray2016@gmail.com or mail them to Church of Holy Wisdom, 776 Brimley Road, Scarborough, ON, M1J1C6

OTHER WAYS TO DONATE
- SECURITIES – When you donate publicly traded stock and securities, you will receive a tax receipt for the full appreciated value of the stock/security (market value on the day of transfer), and you will not be subject to any capital gains tax. These donations are managed for parishes by the Diocese of Toronto. After redemption the funds are forwarded to Holy Wisdom and we will issue the tax receipt.
- LEGACY GIVING – Planned giving is for the wealthy of spirit. Throughout the years generous parishioners have shown their support by including Holy Wisdom in their estate plans. This allows for your legacy to continue to support the mission of the Church. It also lets you make a larger donations than might be possible during your lifetime. You can name The Church of Holy Wisdom as a beneficiary in your will, and specify that the parish receive a percentage of your estate, a specific sum of money, or a gift of property or securities. Your estate will receive a tax receipt for the value of the gift, which may reduce the taxes payable by your estate.
- LIFE INSURANCE – Gifts of life insurance are made by transferring ownership of a new or existing policy to the Church of the Holy Wisdom or by naming the parish as a beneficiary of your policy. This type of gift is an affordable way to make a difference – a modest annual premium paid over time will result in a significant future legacy.
Bequests may be set up in consultation with the Rector to reflect other types of gifts. It is important to talk with your family and your financial adviser or attorney before making a decision about including a gift to to any institution in your will.
